Whatever your opinion of the idea of mandating condom use in porn, I believe it’s a serious mistake to allow reasoning like Weinstein’s to creep into the way we regulate expression protected by the First Amendment. If we allow ourselves to be d by the notion that there’s a “monkey see, monkey do” danger to be found in fictional depictions and various forms of entertainment, we’ll soon enough find ourselves with very little in the way of acceptable depictions that are also actually “entertaining.”
