Naked protest by 400 Pueblos over land eviction
The farmers of " Los 400 Pueblos " ( The 400 Towns ) Movement, have been holding protests outside of the Mexican Congress and marching naked through the streets of Mexico City. In an effort to bring Former Governors of Veracruz Dante Delgado, Patricio Chirinos and Miguel Aleman to trial. They claim that Mr. Delgado obtaining by force, more than 2000 hectares of land in May of 1992. and being victims of injustice and human rights violations by former governors Patricio Chirinos and Miguel Aleman. According to the news publication the local leader Marco Angel Arroyo of Xalapa, the capital of Veracruz, threatened to strip naked in the state’s Legislative Palace if the State Congress continued to ignore an initiative presented by him related to the disappearance of land and a request to the Attorney General’s office to exercise criminal action against the politician Miguel Angel Yunes Linares for alleged embezzlement. Should this happen, Arroyo said he would stand alongside members of the 400 Pueblos Movement.
