Hannah’s syndrome affects most aspects of her life; from her mobility to the way she perceives the world and as a result, this subsequently impacts on her parents’ life too because Hannah is totally dependent on an adult for all her needs and needs to be supervised at all times – especially as she likes to put anything and everything in her mouth and has no concept of her own or others safety.

Hannah Tyers turning pain into passion to help others

Hannah has worked as a Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner within the NHS for the past four years. During this time, she has developed expertise in providing psychologically informed, evidence-based interventions for individuals and groups facing mental health challenges. This includes experience in CBT-informed approaches, behavioural activation, trauma stabilization, psychoeducation, and emotion regulation, among others. Hannah has worked with both adults and adolescents, including individuals with learning disabilities, ADHD, and neurodevelopmental disorders. She is passionate about promoting mental well-being and strives to make a difference in the lives of others.

Joe, Hannah’s brother, is running the Brighton Marathon in honour of his sister and their grandfather, both of whom have faced the challenges of stroke. By supporting Joe, you can help Different Strokes continue to provide vital resources and support to younger stroke survivors like Hannah. Every step Joe takes in the Brighton Marathon is a tribute to their strength and a commitment to making a difference for others facing similar journeys.
