Frida — born Anni-Frid Lyngstad — always knew that she was the product of a wartime love affair. Her mother, Synni, was d by a Wehrmacht sergeant, Alfred Haase, with a sack of potatoes — a gift of immense value in wartime Norway where food was scarce — in 1943.
